Every Kind of Roofing Work, on Every Kind of Roof

Fifteen kinds of work, from a split pipe boot on a Tuesday afternoon to a full tear off after hail. Asphalt, metal, tile, slate, cedar and flat membrane roofs, on houses, shops and commercial buildings.

When the Weather Wins, Call First and Sign Later

Storm calls are answered around the clock. The first visit stops the water, which usually means a tarp fastened over the ridge with battens rather than weighted down with whatever was in the yard. The real repair happens on a dry day.

We photograph the damage before we cover it, because once a tarp is on, the evidence your adjuster needs is underneath it. Those pictures are yours the same night whether or not the work comes to us.

The Free Roof Check, With No Catch In It

Forty five minutes. We walk the field of the roof, every flashing, the pipe boots, the valleys and the gutters, then we go into the attic, which is the half most companies skip and where the truth usually is.

You get photographs, a plain note on what each one means, and a number of years. If the answer is fifteen years you will hear fifteen years and then you will not hear from us again unless you call. The photographs are yours to take to somebody else for a second price.

Most Roofs Around Here Are Older Than People Think

There is no public register of roof ages. There is a very good one of house ages, and for roofing purposes it tells you most of what matters. These are real figures from the Census Bureau, and you can check every one of them yourself.

See It on a House Before You Commit

Pick a material, pick a color and watch it go on. Nothing uploads and nothing is stored. It runs entirely in your browser and you do not have to give anybody an email address to use it.

Twenty Two Lessons, Free, With Nothing Being Sold

This is the course we wish every homeowner had taken before calling a roofer, including before calling us. How a roof keeps water out, how to read your own from the ground, how roofing is priced, how a claim works, and how to check whether a contractor is real.

There is no form on those pages, no download to unlock, and no call to action at the bottom of a lesson. Lesson 18 tells you how to check a contractor and the checks work on us exactly as they work on anybody else.

Both Sides of the River

Scott County in Iowa, Rock Island County in Illinois, and the towns around the edges of the metro. Every town has a page with its own real housing figures, because the age of the houses is the most useful thing to know about roofing in a place.

Davenport, where we are Towns we servePin size follows the number of homes

How We Price It, Before You Ask

Roofing is sold by the square, which is one hundred square feet. An average Davenport two story house is between eighteen and thirty. Four things move the number more than anything else, and none of them is a mystery.

SteepnessPast about eight in twelve the crew works off staging and moves slower. That is real labor, not padding.
LayersTwo old roofs to tear off is twice the work and twice the disposal.
Deck repairPriced per sheet, written on the estimate before we start, so a surprise under the old roof is arithmetic instead of an argument.
DetailValleys, dormers, chimneys and skylights are slow careful work. A plain gable is not.

Five Things We Will Not Do

It is easier to judge a roofing company by what it refuses than by what it promises. So here is the refusing.

We will not cover your deductible.

It is insurance fraud in Iowa and in Illinois, and it puts you in it as well as us. Anybody offering is telling you how they handle everything else.

We will not roof over your old shingles.

It hides the decking so nobody finds the soft spots, and it traps heat that shortens the life of what goes on top. It saves money once and costs it twice.

We will not find damage that is not there.

Storms miss houses and hail falls in narrow bands. A company that finds a claim on every roof it looks at is not inspecting, it is selling.

We will not ask you to sign in your driveway.

Nothing about a roof needs deciding today. Take the estimate inside and read it, and compare it to somebody else's.

We will not put shingles on a flat roof.

Below about three in twelve water stops running and starts sitting, and no shingle is built to hold back a pond. It will leak and it will not be the shingles' fault.

Have Somebody Look at It

Forty five minutes, photographs you keep, and an honest number of years. It costs nothing and there is no sales call after it.
